Bikini → named after the island of Bikini
Turkey → named after Turkey
Canary → derived from the Canary Islands
Flamenco → originating from Flanders
Pils → originating from Pilsen
The term geonym was coined in 1990 by Dutch scholar Robert-Henk Zuidinga and became popular thanks to Ewoud Sanders’ Geonym Dictionary.

Providing care and support is timeless. In the past, it happened through the Green Cross — local, close by, and practical. The idea? Connecting people and organizing care together. With ‘Zorghulp,’ this is being revived, but in a modern way. The goal is to involve one million people, so together we can make care better, stronger, and more humane. Rolling up our sleeves together, not waiting around. Ilse Weisfelt created the illustrations for the new magazine and website. They perfectly capture the strength and warmth this initiative deserves.

Emotionalia

Emotions surround us. We have them, and this means we’re alive. Emotions are different. Love, hate, anger, grief, nostalgia, stress, surprise or orgasm. I have loads of them in my life and while doing this art project I tried to describe what every emotion feels like. Headache and stomach pains are different. So are the emotions. There is no formula for love as well as for every other emotion. To me, these are just microparticles and molecules running somewhere around our stomach and you hardly can describe this with words. But you can try to do it with the power of art.

Adam and Eve, It’s a very common story, but all the story that people heard or read is not focused on Adam and Eve’s love despite its fascination. Since Adam and Eve are the first mankind, so I thought their love represents all kinds of love till now. Therefore, I described Adam and Eve’s love. Most of all, I just thought the story would visualize the song wonderfully. In the part of the visual, I tried to put vibrant colors with bold designs. I focused on the emotions between Adam and Eve with a restrained manner, so I designed moderated characters by hiding their eyes. In addition, I hoped to convey the music’s mood with colours that changed along with beats. Adam and Eve which is expressed in its colour variations represent the diversity of mankind until today.

KoffieTCacao, a Dutch magazine on coffee, tea and chocolate, commissioned us to create an illustration for an article on milk frothers. We created a laboratory environment in ProCreate, in which a researcher is experimenting to create the “perfect foam.”
